"Well I decided to take the plunge and ordered an ISOsub subplatter kit to try out for myself. With the Euro - Sterling exchange rate as it is this was the perfect time to try a little experimentation.
I have to admit with being pleasantly surprised with both the quality and completeness of the kit. In the box was the Subplatter itself (nicely machined and finished) along with a ruby ball bearing, a decent sized bottle of oil complete with applicator, a magnet to remove the original ball bearing and an alcohol swab to ensure everything is spotless prior to assembly.
The sonic improvements were just as impressive. Most immediately obvious was the improvement in pitch. Instruments sound more correct, particularly on long sustained notes. A result I'd attribute to the more accurate machining of the subplatter.
Then you start to notice that sounds that were faintly in the background are now more forward and pronounced. Listening to the Dreamland track on Joni Mitchells Shadow and Light Album voices from the audience could clearly be heard and the quiet Male backing vocals during the chorus now resolved themselves into individual voices whereas they had previously blended together. Possibly as a result of reduced rumble noise from the bearing?
But in addition to this the the soundstage seems fuller and the music more textured and generally more lifelike than before. All in all just a more enjoyable experience. I'm at a loss to explain why this might be.

All arrived and installed - running in and sounding bloody great. Its
had Tool, Lou Reed, Johnny Cash, System 7, Keith Jarrett and Beethoven
so far...just to give it the full range!
OK - i am actually a little gobsmacked the difference it makes.......analogue!
its incredible value actually - should be mandatory for all rega p1-3 owners!

My ISOsub GT kit arrived on Friday 23 ---- now that has to be some kind of recommendation of commitment to service ---- just over a week from Twickenham UK to Brisbane down under !
Hey, there's always some apprehension about ordering things from the other side of the globe but ---- thanks guys, you've justified it.
And what a superb product ---- the instruction sheet said it all ---- as a sometime engineer the last thing I would have done would be to twist it into the bearing ---- but what attention to detail to convey this to the proletariat.
And even a magnet on a stick to get the old steel bearing out ----- wow !
OK, I'm impressed ---- and, yes ---- I did run it in for 24 hours before I listened to it.
Early days I know, but after a few favourite LPs this afternoon ---- space, definition and sound stage -----!
Where do we go from here ----?
Maybe a 25mm platter -----.
Again, many thanks ---- this is absolute quality at affordable prices.
PS The Isosub only continues to impress ---- 'Jazz at the Pawnshop' has never sounded quite as good as that before!

To say i am delighted with all the isokinetik platforms is un understatement. They are simply astonishing and have given an upgrade that has to be heard to be believed.
From the small ones to the magnificent ISOdek, which i use under my wadia cd player.
I tested the ISOdek against my friends £700 Vertex Kinabalu, result the ISOdek bettered the vertex. The improvement in sound is simply incredible.

Every one should be using an ISOsub . . . IMHO
The ISOsub-platter has moved from OK to 'awesome' . . . after 30 hours running in, it was like a switch had been thrown. Compelling listening, trying this record then that one, what about . . . listening to music is always a pleasure, but now its tinged with anticipation! There is an 'air in the music' that has a cave like ambiance, thats the only way to describe it, ambient information is presented one has never heard before, the hifi element simply does not exist, one is listening to a personal musical performance.
Base lines are tuneful, voice articulation is so easy, top end is sharp, clean and extended, dynamics come with a razor sharp leading edge.
Up to this point, most of my P5 tweaks have fallen in the description of subtle, adding to the whole . . . after the 30 hours of running in and my fitting the 'CJSF damping plugs' . . . the changes affected by the ISOsub are far from subtle. I am listening to a whole new level of music reproduction.
OTT? . . . sorry but thats how it is, I had a session yesterday early evening with some, crash, bang, wallop! . . . amazing, woolly base lines have tunes, I'm hearing harmonics across the musical spectrum that one was simply not aware of, helping to create that 'cave like sound', top frequencies are extended and pure . . .
