ISOkinetik Rega turntable upgrade kit
“There is no doubt that each item makes a positive contribution to the overall sound produced by the standard record deck” - Neville Roberts HI FI World magazine review Feb 2010
This category focuses on the ISOkinetik upgrade kit suitable for Rega Planar 2, 3, P3, P24 also suitable for NAD and Goldring turntables
The kit is also suitable for the P5 with the exception of the ISOdrive, to use the ISOdrive you need to buy the ISOdrive plus motor kit
The ISOkinetik Rega upgrade kit is a group of components designed to upgrade the sonic performance of the venerable Rega turntable
The kit is designed to make what is a very good entry-level turntable into a great mid level contender
The F1 can be bought in stages as funds permit or indeed purchased in as the full kit with savings over the individual component costs, furthermore all of these upgrade stages are revisable with the exception of the ISOtone tonearm rewire
The upgrades are all easy and suitable for the novice to undertake though the tonearm rewiring and ISOdrive fitting may not be suitable to those without soldering skills, we offer customisation services for those who would rather have the work done for them
We also have used Rega turntables which have been upgraded and used Rega turntables which can be upgraded to your specification from our list of components
We also have suitable tonearms if you are building your own Rega project or indeed if you wish to upgrade to a ISO 301. 700 or 1000 tonearm
The upgrade package has been reviewed in Hi Fi world magazine Feb 2010 edition by Neville Roberts and we include some of the findings below
“The first thing I noticed about the ISOkinetik/Rega unit was the overall sense of quality”
“the music came across as clear and transparent, regardless of the complexities of the composition”
“The piano sparkled with a delightfully tuneful Ashkenazy touch”
What was particularly noticeable was the greater depth to the sound stage – the harpsichords were not just positioned left to right, but front to back as well”
“The Prokofiev again gave an altogether more believable performance than without the upgrades and the clarity and smoothness of the strings was an absolute delight”
“The bass guitar in the Pink Floyd was somehow more tuneful and defiantly tighter and better controlled”
“The raspy vocals were altogether better reproduced.”
“Even the cash registers glittered with clarity”
“The overall dynamic range had also improved”
“The arm/cartridge resonance had increased to a very satisfactory 12hz”
“Having the two decks side by side made it relatively easy to swap components between them and I was able to attribute the increase in resonant frequency to the ISOweight making this a sure-fire recommendation for the Denon MC’s in the rega arm”
“Best bang for buck? The ISOweight at under £50 is the first thing to have on your shopping list- its great value and a surprising improvement”
“The ISOrb feet appear to have contributed the tighter bass and they also represent an excellent value for money upgrade to replace the flimsy rubber originals”
“Next on the list should be the ISOsub sub platter and its matching ISOplatter not just because it looks great, but it plays a very important part in improving dynamics”
“The Cardas arm rewiring certainly contributed to the better imaging
The imaging was further improved by the ISOdrive (I know, how can a turntable motor improve imaging? But it does!) And this power supply seemed to be largely responsible for cleaning up the vocals”
“The quality of all the items is consistently high and the end result would be a turntable and arm that would cost considerably more to buy as a ready made product
All in all they make an already good deck great”
